The Legal Practice Manager will be responsible for managing the operational and administrative aspects of the practice. This pivotal role requires a blend of leadership, organisational expertise, and a proactive approach to ensure the firm operates efficiently and complies with legal regulations. This is a maternity cover contract until April 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Develop and implement policies, systems, and procedures to enhance performance.
- Manage office infrastructure, IT systems, and supplier relationships.
- Assist the leadership team with HR, Marketing, Know How, Office Management and Overseas tasks.
Marketing
- Support the leadership team in business development and strategic initiatives.
- Event Management and Planning.
- Editing marketing pitches.
- Website and social media management.
- Legal Directory/Award submissions.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., SRA rules, GDPR, AML, COLP).
- Manage professional indemnity insurance and other insurance policies.
- Act as the point of contact for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Oversea client onboarding/KYC.
Team Management and HR
- Supervise administrative and support staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Assist with staff appraisals, career development, and well-being initiatives.
- Recruitment: Scheduling interviews, drafting employment contracts, sourcing references/DBS checks
- Pension uploads
- Onboarding new starters
Key Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in practice management or a similar operational role within the legal sector.
- Strong understanding of legal compliance and operational systems.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with case management and legal software systems.
- Experience in HR and team management.
